Feel good about where you’re staying in Vegas at the multi-awarded and casino-free zone of the Vdara Hotel & Spa. A top pick for people looking for a more homely feel to their Las Vegas accommodation but still offering the luxurious comforts and of course that million dollar view of the Strip.
The Vdara Hotel & Spa, the boutique suite sister property to Aria Resort & Casino, is unlike any Las Vegas property I’ve stayed in. Aside from the je ne sais quoi-factor that I haven’t quite worked out why I liked this property, it’s a completely different experience to the other properties that make up CityCentre (including Aria and Mandarin Oriental), or accommodation that I’ve stayed at in Las Vegas previously.
So I thought I’d give you a list of just 7 reasons why I loved the Vdara and why YOU should consider staying with them for your next vacation to Las Vegas;
Living the Suite Life
The room was very different to the Aria Sky Suite I had spent the previous three-days in, more comfortable and homely feeling more like a luxury studio apartment than a hotel suite.
Entering the apartment you walk through the kitchenette, including two electric burners, into the spacious suite which has distinct dining and lounge areas to one side. On the other, a comfortable bed and work space fill the room and stretched across the far wall is the window looking out over the city.
The bathroom is spacious with a free-standing bath the centrepiece of the room and a well-pressured shower tucked in one corner.
The key to the Vdara is basics done really well – comfort, class, and coziness in a vast space – and they certainly deliver it! With plush (fold-out!) sofas, large TV’s, comfortable leather dining suite and a vacant mini bar ready for you to fill with treats from the lobby’s Market Cafe Vdara, it’s a place that you just want to call “home”.
Clean and Green
Feel good about where you stay as the Vdara has been named a LEED Gold award building and a five-key rating from the Green Key Eco-Rating Program, meaning that Vdara is one of the cleanest greenest hotels in Vegas! It’s also a smoke-free and casino-free zone.
On top of that it has also been awarded with a AAA Four Diamond Award in 2011.
“On” the Strip but Off
While labelled as “on the strip” it is set back just a little; located at the back of the CityCentre complex. I really liked this as it felt a little bit more private yet was still just a short walk to Crystals and the Aria, the Strip or the Cosmopolitan. Also, with its own taxi rank and valet team it means that lines are shorter than at the Aria, located on the other side of the shared roundabout.
Wine, Dine and a Pick Me Up Seconds from Your Room
While the minibar doesn’t come stocked at the Vdara there are plenty of dining, drink and snack options located within the building.
The foyer is home to the Market Cafe Vdara that contains a deli and coffee bar stocked with selected foods Silk Road’s Executive Chef Martin Heierling. Amongst your soft drinks and chips there are deli platters of smoked meats, gourmet cheeses and plenty of tasty pre-made sandwiches and bakery items.
Next door to the Market Café is the ever faithful Starbucks with a small selection of bakery goods and their classic hot and iced drinks.
A stand-out feature of the main lobby is the only bar on the property – Bar Vdara (picture below) – that features indoor and outdoor seating and artful design that reflects from the architecture right down to each drink or cocktail you are served.
Location, Location, Location
Lets talk about City Centre, the $7.5 billion dollar lifestyle space that also contains the Aria and Mandarin Oriental hotels, is the newest dining, entertainment and accommodation precinct in the city. Most notably, Crystals is a must visit during your stay.
Browse the designer stores at the Shops at Crystals – the likes of Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Cartier, Tiffany & Co or Jimmy Choo who produce Vegas-only items for sale – or have a night out at one of the relaxed dining restaurants or stylish clubs. There are also a number of art galleries within Crystals (picture above).
Crystals is also home to a monorail stop for the Bellagio – CityCenter – Monte Carlo Tram line making getting from the Vdara to many of the Strips biggest casinos a breeze.
Las Vegas’ Best Concierge is…
Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to share with you a very special gem I found whilst staying at the Vdara. If you want to book theatre, event, dining or a special surprise during your time in Las Vegas, Edward is the man you need to speak to.
Not only is he lighting fast on the concierge keyboard, he is a great guy! I talked with him on four occasions during my stay at the Vdara, not just to book theatre tickets to some of the Las Vegas’ best shows but whenever he sees you around the hotel he said Hi to me as I passed.
Most of all he loves going to the shows that he’s booking for you and can offer great insider tips for each show, and not just want the promoters want you to know. While I was at the desk we were talking about his trip to see Celine Dion performing that evening and asked if he could follow-up with me to see if I enjoyed the shows we planned tickets for. Sure enough, a little over two-weeks later an email from Edward was in my inbox telling me about his concert experience and asking how I found each of the shows I saw.
A Room with a Million Dollar View
When staying at the Vdara be sure to ask for a room with a high floor level and overlooking the Strip – the view is phenomenal! The Vdara is set at the back of the Cosmopolitan and next to the Bellagio giving you a glimpse at the busiest part of the Strip, the Bellagio Fountains, Paris’ Eiffel Tower, the Cosmopolitan and Bellagio pools and to the Linq’s High Roller and Stratosphere.
While I didn’t get to spend time during the day in the suite as I was out exploring Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire with Pink Jeep Tours, by night I was left mesmerised as I sat at the suites desk working and glancing upwards every so often as I faintly heard one of the particularly loud water cannons go off signalling a show was in progress and slept with the sheer curtains open just so I could watch the skies light up from purple to pink to orange and gold each morning. Magic!
There are so many more things to love about the Vdara – the Nancy Rubin sculpture out the front of the property that artfully pieces together over 200 canoes, Espa – the Spa at the Vdara, the Pool and lounge – complete with cabanas!… I could go on but don’t believe my word. Book a stay and experience the Vdara for yourself.
Now it’s over to you:
