I’ve been toying with the idea for a while now to add a new feature on Bitten by the Travel Bug. Each week I can barely keep up with my RSS reader, stumbling new posts on StumbleUpon or even just checking out whats new in the Twitter stream. I follow some great bloggers and it’s time that I begin to acknowledge some of my favourite each week. This is where Stumble Bug Sunday comes in!
Each Sunday I’ll be posting at least five of my favourite posts which I hope you enjoy reading as much as I did.
Without further ado.. here are my Stumble Bug Sunday picks for this week!
Bartending Down Under: What I’ve Learnt from Caroline in the City
One of the most popular jobs for backpackers when travelling to Australia on a working holiday visa is to get work in a bar, and this post by Caroline is a perfect example of some of the things people who want to enter the industry should know including about the RSA you’ll need to obtain before commencing work as well as her own thoughts and opinions on what working in a bar down under has been like.
New Zealand Smackdown: North Island vs. South Island from A Dangerous Business
New Zealand lies all of three-hours away from Australia and I am yet to visit – but that will soon change! With the chance of flying through the country before TBEX ’12 I’ve been reading up about this country to decide where I should spend my week stop-over, and it’s not and easy feat to decide!
Amanda from A Dangerous Business has put together a great ‘smack-down’ post comparing both islands against each other to see who reigns supreme over a series of categories including cities, food, landscape and adventure sports!
How to Deal with the Culture Shock of Big Cities from Wandering Earl
I’m currently trying to work out what the end of 2011 will bring me and travelling to Bangkok or Manilla is starting to look like it may be put on the agenda. Having never travelled to a big ‘foreign’ city (Shenzehn and Hong Kong in China are both quite westernised) it was interesting to read how an experienced traveller such as Wandering Earl deals with the culture shock, and to see how I can adapt it to my travel plan at the end of the year.
10 Reasons to Visit St Kilda, Melbourne from Pack Your Passport
I’ve spent a lot of time in Melbourne growing up but I never got to spend much time in St Kilda. Luckily Beverley re-introduced me to the wonderful suburb on my last trip to Melbourne and has now created a blog post highlighting 10 things you should see/do when you’re there!
From the delicious bakeries which line Acland Street to the familiar face of Luna Park (theme park) entrance; There are even Little Penguins hiding out in St Kilda and I will be trying to find them when I visit next in November.
India Pakistan Border Closing Ceremony from Nomadic Samuel
With little knowledge about borders (I didn’t know that they could ‘close’ overnight!) this post by Nomadic Samuel really interested me. Each night a border closing ceremony is held on the India-Pakistan border, complete with dancing, theatrics, men doing high kicks and best of all it’s free! Complete with some beautiful photos, videos well worth watching (Nomadic Samuel has a series of videos just depicting the border closing ceremony!)

Happy Stumbling!
I would like to say a big thank you to Dylan from The Travelling Editor for creating the ‘buggie’ in the Post Image.
Almost a year later but I’ve finally used it! Thanks Dylan.
