So I have a bit of an apology to make. For the past year when people have been asking me for tips about what to do in Kuala Lumpur I’ve been raving that the best view of the Petronas Towers is from Marini’s on 57, a very cool bar, cigar lounge and delicious fine dining Italian restaurant in Petronas Tower 3.
I’m sorry, I was wrong.
On my recent visit to Kuala Lumpur, a local friend assured me that while the view from Marini’s was “good” (check out the picture above!) he had a place that would blow me away. He was right. So let me correct myself and tell you where you MUST go to see the best view of the Petronas Towers and maybe have a cheeky cocktail to boot!
The Best View of the Petronas Twin Towers
The Traders Hotel is perfectly positioned opposite the Petronas Twin Towers with just the City Centre Park separating the two; and there is no better view in the house than from their Sky Bar on level 33.
Enter through the hotel lobby and take the elevator up. It’s easy to find your way with the pumping music.
Even if you don’t make a table reservation, you should have no trouble getting a window seat. It took us around 20-minutes on a very busy Saturday night, though most of the group was happy to sit at a bar seat pool side or take to the dance floor at one end of the pool.
Cocktails at the bar start at the incredibly reasonable RM$35 (that’s AUD$12/GBP£6.50), not including government taxes, and food is available to purchase.
By day, level 33 is the hotels pool deck and by night it’s one of the cities coolest bars. With a view like this, I can see why people keep coming back!

January 7, 2015 at 2:29 pmI have lived there for 13 months, I mean in KL. Actually, my office was a short walking distance from the towers. Looking at your pictures, I must say that you’ve got well-informed friends there. Great pictures!
Sometimes, when I finished day works and got out to walk home in fog, I could see how handsome and robust the structure looked like! To me, they were like a robot standing behind me on top of KLCC shopping center.
Thanks for sharing and keep writing the interesting posts!

January 8, 2015 at 12:38 amOh bother…. I was in KL last week. Dang it! Oh well… next time right! Such a cool city, although getting lost for 3 hours with a non english speaking taxi driver did put a slight dampener on my like for the place. LOL!

January 9, 2015 at 7:49 amTrader’s Hotel is definitely the best place to get the best photographs of the Twin Towers. I went there with my friends while I was living in KL.. My only regret is that I didn’t have a tripod with me.

January 12, 2015 at 1:17 amA gorgeous view AND cocktails? This is a no-brainer for me! I have only ever been to KL’s airport (too many times, I didn’t find it very exciting!) but one day, since it’s really so close to Perth, I must actually get to KL and explore it.

January 19, 2015 at 2:10 pmWow that was so beautiful. You are so lucky. I’ll guess that it is expensive to stay at that hotel.

February 6, 2018 at 5:13 pmHi FC,
I would recommend contacting SkyBar directly and asking. You may be able to on quieter days or if you have reserved the cabana seating.
