I thought that I’d be heading home to relax during what’s left of the Australian summer, but fate didn’t seem to go that way when I received an email two-weeks ago inviting me to visit my second new country of 2013.
So instead of balmy evenings filled with watching The Big Bang Theory with my housemate and catching up on posts from over the last few months (I have plenty to share about Winter Park/Fraser Valley, Canberra, and of course how I fared with being a scaredy cat in China), I had 8-hours to unpack my snow gear and gear up for the hot and humid weather that is present when visiting Malaysia!
Malaysia has been a country I’ve been wanting to visit for some time now, but with my heart set on Europe I have been yet to visit. I am privileged to say that Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines have invited me along to experience the best of Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Pankor over the 8-day trip as part of the launch for Visit Malaysia Year in 2014.
During the visit I’ll be seeing the best of both worlds – dining amongst the locals at food court-style markets and then staying in beautiful hotels such as the Eastern & Oriental Hotel; learning to cook the local cuisine and getting up close to feed the locals… the local animals that is!
Do you have any tips for what to see, do or eat in Malaysia?
