Grab a frappachino from the Starbucks and sit in Times Square and make the most of one of the best people watching positions I know. Lot of things happen in Times Square – marriage proposals, the Naked Cowboy, filming for TV or movies – it really is the hub of the city and one of my favourite spots that I visit each night I’m in the city.
We’d been let out of camp for a day trip to New York, as five counselor packed buses headed down from the Catskill Mountains into the city. Dropping us just off of Times Square one of the Israeli girls I was with immediately wandered around the corner exclaiming, “I’ve seen Times Square, we can go back to camp now.” We all burst out giggling before going our separate ways to shop, eat, or just explore the great concrete jungle.
Whilst the day was one of the few overcast days I’d spent in the city, the majority of us ended up soaked by the rain that came pouring just as we left, it was a day that I made new friends and cemented friendships with others.
