Turn Those Holiday Mistakes Into Something Great!

Visa Holiday Replay

Have you ever wished you could retake a holiday after something happened turning it into one holiday you’d rather not remember? There are a hundreds of ways that this could have happened but there is only one way to change that memory – by entering the Visa Holiday Replay.

Visa know that sometimes bad things happen on what was meant to be your trip of a lifetime. For this reason they are offering three lucky people $20,000 to create their own Holiday Replays, plus 15 $1,000 runner-up prizes.

What holiday would I replay?

If I had a chance to replay any holiday I’d love to be able to replay the epic U.S. road trip my friend and I had planned. We’d drive from Las Vegas to Denver, Colorado heading past highlights like the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, Route 66, Four Corners and miles upon miles of beautiful American desert. Except that didn’t happen.

I arrived a day late in Las Vegas after booking my ticket for July, not June, and breaking my camera lens taking a selfie in San Francisco. My friend ditched me for a guy she met at a party – no big deal until she kept extending our stay in Las Vegas when we had to be at a conference in Denver in less than two-days!
After her arriving back to the hotel 4-hours after check-out I was fuming that she was hung over and we were running so behind on our trip and that I’d discovered, while packing, that my camera had been stolen from the hotel room.

Re-planning the route while I waited for her in the car I worked out we would JUST make it, and have time to see the Grand Canyon on route. After being yelled at by my friend for making the tiny detour to the Hoover Dam, we made it to the Grand Canyon just before nightfall – only to find miles upon miles of corrugated, unsealed roads.
By the time we arrived at the Grand Canyon it was well and truly past dark, and my friend was pale, nauseous and unwell.
The rangers thought it was really bad car sickness coupled with sun stroke but she later told me it was a mix between her being car sick, the drinking and something else stuck inside her that I probably shouldn’t be mentioning on here.
After she convinced the ambulance crew she was okay we found out there was no accommodation available on site and we’d have to head half way back to Las Vegas -to Kingman, Arizona – to find a hotel room for the night.

I’m not quite ready to share all of the story, but in the end – after all the additional expenses that happened throughout the 48-hours we were on the road, plus having to buy a new camera before a work trip the following day, I was had to cut my dream U.S. Road Trip short and cut a lot of my east coast travel down as well.
I’m sure if I won $20,000 it would go a long way towards creating new memories all across the USA.

Win, Win, Win!!!
